Lark N Dark was foaled on April 28, 2002 in Manitoba, Canada. He was bred and owned by Vatnsdal Quarter Horses of Minnesota.
Lark is an own son of the two time AQHA Superhorse Rugged Lark and out of a double Boston Mac bred mare who has produced five AQHA point earning offspring. Lark has been color tested by UC Davis. Lark is E/E for red factor meaning that he carries NO red factor and will never produce a red foal, reardless of the color of the mare. He is A/a for Agouti (black pigment distributed in points pattern). Our professional team will be happy to let you know the chances of colors produced when bred to your mares. It is easiest if you have a color test available but if not we can help as best as we can. No need to guess!
Lark is registered with the AQHA, ARHA and approved by the APHA to sire APHA offspring. We are willing to work with mare owners who would like him registered or approved by other registries necessary to produce a registerable foal with their mare.
Lark began standing at stud as a three year old after being trained in Western Pleasure and Reining.
So far, Lark has been used as a working ranch horse, competed in team penning, he has been a turn back horse and is even calm enough for children and beginners to ride.
When Lark arrived at C 'n' J Training an intensive training program began for him. In this short time he has already progressed so much. His training continues under Nicole Friedman in Western events (Western Pleasure, Trail, Ranch Reining, Reined Cow Horse and more), Hunter Under Saddle and he has been started over fences. He has also moved on to training at first level in Dressage.
For most of his life Lark's career has been as a standing stallion. While that is important, and he's produced wonderful offspring, we're also getting him show ready, as a performance record is something he is very capable of achieving. Lark attended his first show in October of 2009 and earned a total of 12 ARHA points in two events. He earned 8 halter points and 4 Performance points after only a month back in training!
It is impossible to meet Lark and not fall in love with him. His stellar personality and temperament win over every person he meets. He is willing, calm, patient, gentle, intelligent, athletic and he passes those traits on to his offspring. He gives everything his 110% and never refuses to try. Lark is truly his sire's son.
